For week 2 of the thankfulness series, I decided to write about Psalm 100:3-5: “Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
The reality of this verse is simple and beautiful. One of the greatest things we have to be thankful for—if not the greatest thing—is that we are His.
We belong to the Lord our God. He made us. He crafted us with beauty and intention and purpose. He walks alongside us with every breath we take, because He loves us with an enduring, everlasting love.
God is our Shepherd and we are His sheep. We don’t always know what we’re doing. We get confused and lost. But God seeks us out, He provides for us, He restores us with His loving touch.
With God, we have everything we need.
God has adopted us into His love. He has made us His own. We belong to Him. No matter how you phrase it, it’s one of the loveliest truths there is.
How, then, can we respond to our sense of belonging in Christ? As David wrote in Psalm 100, let us enter His gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise! Let’s step into each moment, each living encounter with God, with a heart prepared to say, “Thank you.”
Dear God, there is so much to thank you for. Thank you for loving us with good love that endures forever. Thank you for making us yours. Thank you for being faithful to your people for generations and generations. May we never stop approaching you with endless thanksgiving and praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thanks for reading, friend. And never forget… you are onederfully created.
Love,
Becca
