Becca Wierwille
Author Visits
Thank you for considering inviting me to your school, homeschool group, or other organization. When I was a child, I was so grateful for the chances I had to meet authors—mostly through school visits!
I offer both in-person and virtual visits, with a variety of presentation options for grades K-8th.
- I use slide shows for my presentations. For in-person visits, schools will need to provide access to a projector and screen.
- Presentations last from 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the grade level and the group, and include time for Q&A at the end.
- For in-person visits, you can request a book signing time after the presentations.
- Virtual sessions are not recorded.
Read on for more information about presentation options, current rates, and how to get in touch.

“She was very good at explaining things in a way that everybody could understand.”
Presentation Options (In-Person and Virtual)
Meet the Author (K-2nd): Hear some of Becca’s story, including what it was like to grow up with one arm, and learn how she fell in love with writing stories—especially stories that remind readers they are wonderfully created. Specifically designed for younger grades, this presentation is shorter than the other options. This presentation includes:
- Details about Becca’s childhood and her everyday life as an author
- A chance for young students to meet a real-life author and see that it’s something they could do one day too!
- Show-and-tell time with Becca’s prosthetic arms
- Why Becca thinks books are fun
- Q&A time at the end
Road Trip Rescue (3rd-7th): Listen to a brief reading from Road Trip Rescue and hear Becca’s story about how this book—and these characters—came into existence. This presentation includes:
- Details about the creation of Road Trip Rescue
- A chance for young readers to consider where stories come from and how they could create their own stories
- Show-and-tell time with Becca’s prosthetic arms
- A reading from Road Trip Rescue
- Q&A time at the end
Behind the Scenes of Storytelling (5th-8th; best with smaller groups): How can you take pieces of your real life—or things from your imagination—and create a story? Becca shares her story creation process with young readers and encourages them to create stories from their own lives and imaginations. Though it can be adapted for larger groups, this presentation includes a workshop/interactive component and works best for groups of 50 students or less. This presentation includes:
- Details about Becca’s story creation process
- Tips for creating your own stories
- Group writing exercise
- An opportunity for young readers to workshop with each other and practice creating their own stories
- Q&A time at the end
Author Q&A (All Grades): Have you ever read a book and wondered how it came to be? What would you ask an author if you had the chance? Get your questions ready, because Becca wants to answer them!
- Brief introduction
- Extended Q&A time
- The benefit of letting students take charge of their time with the author so they can ask the questions that matter most to them
- Note: Teachers, please consider collecting questions from students in advance as well—this can help us have a more productive time together! The author will bring ideas of topics or FAQs to discuss in case of a lull in conversation.
