There’s a lot to love about summer. Sunshine, bare feet in the grass, dripping ice cream cones, nights by the campfire, trips to the beach… and the list goes on.
But one of my favorite things about summer is fresh fruit. So many fruits, like strawberries, blueberries—and my personal favorite, peaches—come into season at this time of year.
I love the way Paul uses the image of fruit to talk about the different characteristics God can bring into season in our lives when we spend time with Him.
Paul writes, “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (Galatians 5:22-23).
This summer is a wonderful time to dive into these fruits of the spirit with our families. When my writer friend Laurie Christine invited me to write one of the devotions for her Summer Family Fruit Challenge, I couldn’t wait to be part of it.
Let’s raise a next generation of Christ-followers who live with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Join us as we learn about the fruits of the Spirit and learn to rely on God to produce His fruit in the lives of the little ones around us—and in our lives, too.
