Wow, God.

Have you ever experienced a moment where those are the only words that came to mind? Have you ever seen something or heard something that creates nothing but a response of wonder and awe in your heart?

Let’s be real. Life isn’t always too exciting. Sometimes we get trapped in the mundane and lots in the routine of everyday activities.

But even on the most seemingly boring days, we are waking up in a world filled with God’s glory.

We are alive as part of His magnificent creation. The world may be fallen, but it still holds so many gifts and glimpses of God’s greatness.

We can have “Wow, God” moments every day. We just need to open our eyes to receive the wonder.

I love the words of David in Psalm 65:5-8: “You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations. The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.”

Scripture is filled with “Wow, God” moments.

God reigns over all the world and the seas. He formed the mountains. He can still the roaring of the waves. His wonders fill the earth. The sky is His canvas, and every sunrise and sunset calls forth songs of joy and awestruck wonder.

Whether you are reading this first thing in the morning or right before bed at night, consider your day’s experiences so far. What did you do? Where did you see God’s wonder? When could you have stopped in your day to say, “Wow, God.”

I’ll go first, starting with the day that I’m writing this post. When I got up this morning, I spent some time in God’s word and then worked out before showering. Wow, God. Thank you for the gifts of eyes to read and a body that can move.

As I ate breakfast, sunlight streamed in through the window, reflecting through the newly green leaves on the trees outside. Wow, God. Thank you for the gift of new life and growth.

I opened my laptop and started to write. I’ve been crafting lots of devotionals lately, and I’m thankful for the way I can connect with God and learn more about His character through the process of writing. Wow, God. Thank you for the gift of words, and for the gift of technology that allows us to connect in unexpected ways.

And the list goes on.

So how do we live in awestruck wonder?

Be intentional. Look for God’s fingerprints on each moment. Be aware of His creation and the way it affects your day. Recognize any feelings of stress or fear or anxiety, and exchange them for gratitude and wonder. Pray constantly. Be in community with others who can hold you accountable on the journey.

And never forget… you are onederfully created by this Maker of the universe.

Love,
Becca
