Do you ever read a story and find yourself in awe of the beauty of the storytelling?

That’s how I felt after reading Echo (Amazon Affiliate Link) by Pam Muñoz Ryan. The storytelling was almost musical in nature, and I enjoyed the experience of reading it almost as much as the story itself.

Echo is the story of three characters from three different parts of the world: Friedrich in Germany, Mike in Pennsylvania, and Ivy in California.

They all face significant challenges in their lives. But we can’t initially see how their stories are connected.

Then an extraordinary harmonica finds its way into each of their hands. And, in a masterful and imaginative way, the lives of these three characters become connected.

Echo is a work of art, a tapestry of stories: fantasy woven with history and lives from different times and places that somehow eventually come together.

I couldn’t stop turning the pages.

The Goodreads book description says Echo: “pushes the boundaries of genre, form, and storytelling innovation to create a wholly original novel that will resound in your heart long after the last note has been struck.” And I can’t say it any better than that.

I haven’t listened to the audiobook, but I’ve heard great things about experiencing the story that way too.

Echo reminded me of the beauty of creativity and the gift we all have to create something beautiful—whether that’s through writing, music, baking, painting, or whatever our hobbies might be.

We are created by a creative God. And He has shared with us this ability to create lovely things. Creativity can help us face the challenges in our lives. And it can help show us how we are connected to those around us in ways we may have never expected.

Never forget . . . you are wonderfully created.

Love,
Becca
