Life is fast.
Sometimes I feel like I can’t catch a break. The month of June was a great example. I was home just one week out of the whole month. It felt crazy. I jumped from one thing to the next. It was fun and exhilarating, but I was tired.
I was just ready to be home.
I’m guessing I’m not alone in this feeling. We are busy people. We fill our schedules, and even when we’re maxed out, we say yes to yet another opportunity. We like the distractions of a fast-paced lifestyle. I think it’s written in our cultural DNA.
But sometimes, we’re just ready to be home.
I love the words of Deuteronomy 6:5-7: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
Even in the busiest of times, we carry these words in our hearts. We carry the love we have for our Creator, and we also carry the love He has for us… a vast, magnificent love that is beyond anything we could even imagine. The kind of love that leads Him to delight over us, His children, with singing.
This love that flows between us and our Creator carries a lot of meaning. And this love as an open invitation from the Savior.
God’s love is an invitation to stop. To stop and rest.
To rest in His loving embrace.
Sometimes I’ll actually stop what I’m doing, close my eyes, and pretend God’s arms are wrapped around me in a tender embrace. These hugs from my Father put the craziness of life back into perspective.
My Father’s embrace reminds me that I’m not alone. And as crazy as life might get, I’m not home yet.
But one day I will be home. I’ll be with Jesus. And I’ll be resting and worshipping in the warmth of His love for a beautiful eternity.
So friend, I invite you to stop. Rest. Feel the embrace of your Creator.
Know that your life here matters, but even so… you’re not home yet.
And never forget… you are onederfully created.
Love,
Becca
What a great reminder! This world is so fast-paced lately, and I often stress instead of stopping and breathing. This is very we stayed and just what I needed this morning!
Kristin, I’m so glad this resonated with you right where you’re at! The world is so fast-paced, and taking time to rest is so important. Thanks for reading!
Thank you for this reminder. Jesus said we should come with all our struggles and He’ll give us rest. This is my joy.
Thanks for reading! Yes… what joy it is to know we can rest in the arms of the Savior of the World!
I LOVE everything about this blog!! It’s beautiful and the pictures are stunning! And I especially LOVE “Onederfully Created”! Stopping to rest, and seeking His face is the ONLY way to refuel! I loved the visual of stopping and having God’s arms wrapped around you. When I fly, I picture God like a little boy, playing with an airplane (only gently) and lifting my plane into the air, only to set it down softly when I’ve reached my destination. Thank you for the encouragement today!
Erin, thank you so much for your sweet words! I’m so glad it encouraged you. Also, I love that picture of God flying an airplane.
I can relate to this! Sometimes I want to accomplish sooo much that it just gets me mentally exhausted! It’s always good to learn to rest and to remind myself it’s okay to take a break! 🙂 Keep up the good work, love your posts!
Sofia, I feel the same way! But yes – it’s okay to take a break. Thank you for your kind words, I’m so glad you enjoy them!
