I love when authors write really great books that fill specific needs for specific readers.

My friend Laurie Christine saw a need for devotional books written for boys ages 8 to 12. For Bible stories written in a way that grab their attention with action and truth, inspire them with God’s word, and challenge them with readings.

That’s why she is writing The Dragon Slayer Bible Series. And this series isn’t just great for pre-teen boys—girls enjoy it too!

Book one, Garden of Mysteries (Amazon Affliate Link), stars Seth, the son of Adam and Eve. In this biblical fiction story, Seth’s parents have secrets they won’t share with him . . . and Seth has lots of questions.

Why did the King force his parents to leave the Garden of Eden? Why did he curse the land? Can the curse ever be broken?

Laurie pitches this series as Frank Peretti meets The Chosen for Kids, which I think is a super fun way to describe this adventure-packed story that will inspire readers to identify the dragon’s lies and to put their trust in the Dragon Slayer

This series invites readers to consider the realm of spiritual warfare, and through the accompanying devotional (Amazon Affiliate Link), readers are encouraged to join the armies of the Dragon Slayer in this battle of good versus evil.

I love how The Dragon Slayer Bible Series has gotten boys (and girls!) excited about reading the Bible.

It helps give readers a new, vivid perspective on Paul’s words in Ephesians 6:13-17 (NIV):

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

This passage reminds us that our faith is active and moving. We are called to stand firm for our Creator and for what we believe in. To stand our ground against the enemy.

And The Dragon Slayer Bible Series helps remind us of that too.

If you know of a reader between the ages of 8 and 12 who wants to dive deeper into his faith, check out The Dragon Slayer Bible Series.

Never forget . . . you are wonderfully created.

Love,
Becca
