“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

I almost named this blog Life Rejoiced.

Why? Well, first off, I was unsure about naming a blog just based off my arm. I didn’t want to be limited, because I didn’t want to write every single post about what it’s like to have one arm. It’s not that exciting!

Second, one of my favorite Bible verses is Zephaniah 3:17. I can’t wrap my mind around it. The Creator of the world, the one who put the stars in the sky and painted the galaxies, takes great delight in me? He rejoices over me and my life with singing?

That’s incredible to me. We sing praises to God, but God deserves our adoration. He is Savior, Creator, Healer, Redeemer.

But for Him to rejoice over me with singing? It seems backwards. I don’t deserve that. None of us do.

Yet, from the very moment we are conceived, in our mother’s womb, knowing nothing but our own selfish desires, God rejoices over our existence with song.

What would it be like, to hear Jesus singing? What kinds of songs would he sing? What does the Creator’s voice sound like?

Here’s a little exercise for you: picture the singer you think has the best voice you’ve ever heard, perhaps the best voice in the entire world. Do you have someone in mind? Imagine some of his or her songs, the beauty of their raw, pure voice.

God, the one who rejoices over your life with singing, created that voice. How much more powerful and beautiful would His voice be? This exercise proves itself futile, because His songs are doubtlessly more than what we can imagine.

So, even though we are broken and messed up and our lives are filled with sin, God rejoices over us with unimaginably beautiful singing. Even though He already chose to sent His son to die on the cross to save us, God still rejoices over us with song.

We are His wonderful creation, His masterpiece. God delights over His creation. He is with us, He saves us, and as He watches us work through this crazy thing called life, He rejoices because we are His.

I think that’s pretty incredible.

And never forget… you are onederfully created.

Love,
Becca
