We have a move on the horizon.
Our free moments are filled with talk about the process and timing of it all—when will we move which items? How will we accomplish the most possible on the weekends leading up to it? Can we do without our dining room table for a few weeks? Where will we find boxes to pack up our smaller items?
Our conversations with others, too, center around the impending move. We’re always answering questions like: Where are you moving? Why? Are you excited?
Some of the people we love most are delighted by the coming move because it will bring us closer to them. Others are still hoping that maybe things will change, and we’ll stay right here.
So right now, we sit in the messy middle, waiting for the move to come and for our lives to change.
We’re not moving too far. We’re moving an hour and a half, back to the area where I grew up. Back to the place I’ve always called home.
But what’s hard is that now, we’re leaving another place we’ve come to call home. And that hurts sometimes.
Transitions are often bittersweet, I think. We might know and trust that God is bringing changes into our lives for good—but at the same time, we don’t look forward to losing the things we have grown used to for years.
What I’m clinging to, on the edge of this transition, is the truth that God is with us—and even when things in our lives change, He never does.
I love the words of Psalm 102:27, “But you remain the same, and your years will never end.” Even as things in this world change or pass away, God is eternal. He laid the foundations of the earth, and He’s with us now. The heavens are the work of His hands, and we are His precious creation.
That’s something we can find hope in, no matter what transition looms around the corner of our lives.
And never forget … you are wonderfully created by Him.
Love,
Becca
A move across the street or the ocean can be fun & frightening.
May the Lord bless you all the way to settling in.
Thank you, Dave!
I am so excited for you and Seth!!! Of course…mom and dad, too💓
Thanks, Lori… we’re excited, too!
I like thinking about you living where your Grandpa and Grandma lived. That way I can picture you there and wonder how you will change things. Our grandson bought our house and he is having a great time redoing things and it is fun to watch.
Yes, I have a lot of great memories there, and we’re excited to create more! I’m glad it worked out for your grandson to buy your house, it’s always special to keep a home in the family 🙂
