I’m a firm believer that no matter your circumstances, no matter your perceived limitations, no matter your present conditions, if you are determined to do something, and if you let God help you, you can do it.
God’s gifted me with my own healthy dose of determination. I think a lot of it has to do with being born with one arm. My whole life, people have been offering to do things for me. Sometimes, that’s okay and even appreciated. But other times, especially when I was younger, I was stubborn, and I just wanted to do it myself.
And so, I often get questions about whether or not I can do certain things. For example: Can you put your hair up with one arm? (I can… check out this post and video to see how.) Can you tie your shoes? Can you ride a bike? And, one of the most popular questions, can you paint your fingernails with one arm?
The answer to all of those questions is yes. But, it’s hard to explain how. Especially since I was born with one arm, so I’ve been doing things like this a little differently my whole life. So sometimes, it’s easier to just show you.
Watch the video below to see exactly how I paint my fingernails with one arm!
Like I said in the video, I don’t paint my fingernails very often, but it’s not because of a lack of ability. I just don’t often see the point, when the polish is chipping off the very next day. Or maybe I just need to buy higher quality nail polish… I don’t know.
But friend, wherever you’re at, whatever is difficult for you, whatever you see as a perceived disability… don’t give up. You are strong. You are courageous. You have determination. God has gifted you with abilities beyond what you could even imagine.
And that goes way beyond being able to paint your nails with one arm.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the video! Please share this with anyone you know who could benefit from watching for whatever reason.
And never forget… you are onederfully created, just the way you are.
Love,
Becca
Becca,
You are a motivation to others. You help others appreciate what they have.
At this moment I am grateful for you and grateful for every part of my body. We are all unique creation.
Thanks and be part of making a difference.
Jessy, thank you so much for your sweet words! You’re so right… we’re unique and wonderful, just the way God created us 🙂
I watched the video you posted the other day, and it is still so cool to watch. I love seeing how someone is successful in the face of challenges like this. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us! I subscribed to your emails because I want to see more.
Thanks Erica! This is so encouraging to me… and thank you for subscribing! I’m glad you’ve been inspired by the video and hope you continue to be inspired by my content 🙂
I am soooo with you on “what’s the point?” I finally found a polish recently that didn’t chip the next day and I was so excited…. It’s OPI. Maybe I had a good day but fingers crossed that it lasts longer than others. haha
I’ll have to look into that! Thanks for the tip… hopefully it keeps on lasting for you 🙂
Thanks for sharing this video. I recently had my dominant arm amputated and I’m still trying to adjust to everything physically and mentally. I hate that I have to have others help me, I’ve always been fiercely independent, my mum was a great support whilst going through the surgical procedures but she has just passed away and I feel really overwhelmed. I am a single mum to 3 young autistic children and I want to do the best job I can for them. Their dad didn’t cope well with their autism and when I had my arm amputated it was the final straw for him and he left. Now everything here is shut because of covid and I have no practical advice from physio or occupational therapist etc on how to do various things so your videos will help I hope.
Once again thank you for sharing.
Claire.
Claire, thanks so much for reaching out! I’m so sorry to hear about all the hard things going on in your life. You’ve lost a lot recently, which I’m sure is taking an immense physical and emotional toll. I can completely resonate with that desire to be independent and do things on your own, but it’s challenging to learn to do things differently than you always have in the past. I hope my videos are helpful! I’ve also had luck searching videos on YouTube. That’s how I first learned to put my hair in a ponytail, actually. Saying a prayer for you and your family during this time.
