Friday morning I was a mess. I dropped my highly anticipated breakfast of avocado toast on the floor. Seth helped me rescue most of it since it landed face-up (5-second rule?) and Georgia cleaned the rest off the ground.
Then I dropped my salvaged toast right onto my lap. I went to work with avocado on my pants.
But then I was scrolling through Twitter before work and saw a notification from Pamela, TheSparkleMomma. She’d nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award, which is basically bloggers thanking other bloggers for spreading joy and positivity.
Thank you, Pamela, for thinking of me!

My Questions from TheSparkleMomma:
- What is your spirit animal and why? I don’t know about a spirit animal, but I really like dolphins! Whenever you see dolphins, they are so carefree, leaping through the waves and playing and dancing in the water. To me, dolphins are a symbol of contagious joy, and I want people to see that in me, too.
- Where are you from, and where else have you lived? What was your favorite place to call home? I’m originally from eastern PA, but I grew up in central PA on a farm, and that will always be home to me! It’s also where Seth and I got engaged and where we got married.
- What is your favorite restaurant or food truck and meal (Details please!?)? My favorite restaurant… this is a tough one, because I really like food! I’d probably pick the diner where Seth and I had our first date. Lulu’s Diner is inexpensive and delicious, plus it’s breakfast food which is the best. I always get over-medium eggs, hashbrowns, and toast, and a french vanilla cappuccino with whipped cream (I’m not a coffee person, but their cappuccinos are seriously the best).
- What is a super funny joke you have heard or like to tell? Or a riddle? I’m not sure if this counts, but I really like Christian pickup lines. I think they’re hilarious. My favorite is, “So I was reading the book of Numbers the other day and I realized… I don’t have yours!”
- What mythical creature do you wish actually existed? Probably a pegasus. Because wouldn’t it be cool to go for a horseback ride through the clouds?
- If you wrote an autobiography, what would you call it? The best I can come up with right now is the name of my blog… Onederfully Created!
- What book, song or movie changed your life and why? The book Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton meant (and means) a lot to me. I was in my early teens when it first came out, and I was so impacted by Bethany’s faith and perseverance. And even though I was born with one arm and didn’t lose it in an accident like she did, I connected with her on that level as well. In college, I got the chance to see Bethany speak and am so thankful she’s shared her beautiful story with the world.
- What is the scariest thing you have ever experienced? A few years ago, I was in Guatemala for a week-long mission trip with my dad and some of his friends. We were cooling off in the ocean one evening and over half the group was caught in a terrible rip tide. Fortunately, everyone survived. But it was so scary. I remember just standing on the shore with my dad, feeling so helpless and praying they’d all make it back alive. I’ve definitely gained a new respect for the ocean.
- What was the best thing that happened to you today? Today? Well, nothing too exciting has happened yet. But I woke up beside my amazing husband and my sweet dog (she’s worked her way into our bed just like how she worked her way into our hearts), and that was a pretty incredible thing in itself. I’m just thankful for all God has given me.
- What always cheers you up whenever you think about it? I’m going to sound like a bit of a broken record, but I can’t help but smile whenever I think about my husband, Seth. I’ll spare you the details and the sap for today, but he’s a great guy.
- What is another talent or skill you’re proud of besides blogging? I learned how to unicycle while I was in college. I’m not sure how well I’d be able to do it now, since I haven’t touched a unicycle since then, but I think that’s a pretty unique skill!
