Summer is a great season to spend time with those you love.
I mean, come on. The blue skies, sunshine, green grass, long walks… summer is a perfect time for a picture-perfect date. And it’s the perfect time just to hang out with friends!
But summer can get crazy. Between work, vacations, planning for the next year, and other everyday tasks, summer can just fly by.
You have to prioritize summer dates if you want to make them happen. And summer, in my opinion, is the best time for dates that won’t break the bank.
So today I’m making this list of ten summer date ideas that are easy and inexpensive. I hope you can find at least one to try yourself!
1. Go out for ice cream.
… Or Italian ice, or frozen yogurt, or whatever cold treat you like best! I personally don’t believe ice cream dates ever get old. And while ice cream dates are okay in the winter too, a lot of the best ice cream places are only open in the summer. So take advantage of it while you can!
2. Hike together. Bonus points if you see a sunrise.
Seth and I love hiking. If you’re into exploring the great outdoors, do a quick online search and see if there are any trails near you that you haven’t seen. Then make it intentional! Set some time aside so the two of you can adventure together. And in my opinion, early morning hikes where you can see the sunrise are the very best kind.
3. Find a bike trail, and see how far you can go.
Biking is another active, fun date activity. By the way, the best kind of bike trail is the one with an ice cream shop at the end of the road… see what you can find!
4. Go to a drive-in movie.
This is one of my favorites. There’s nothing like throwing a bunch of pillows and blankets in the bed of a truck and watching an outdoor movie!
5. Share a picnic lunch.
Because picnics will never be out of style!
6. Go kayaking.
Another fun, active date. Make sure you wear lots of sunscreen!
7. Try fishing.
Seth loves fishing. It’s not my favorite thing—I tend to get bored. But if this is something you both enjoy, go for it!
8. Take a day trip to the ocean—or to a lake, if you’re too far from the ocean.
Beach dates are the best dates! Nothing like sandy toes, salt water, and seashells—it’s an irresistible combination.
9. Camp out.
The summer after Seth and I got married, we camped out in our own backyard. It didn’t go great. We ended up going inside at 2 a.m., because it was raining and the tent was caving in on us. But it gave us one of our favorite date stories! Adventure builds the best memories.
10. Go berry-picking!
There are a lot of places that let you come and pick your own blueberries—all you have to pay for is the berries themselves! And it’s pretty great to walk through a sea of blueberries, don’t you think?
Anyway, I hope you find at least one or two of these to try out with your friends or your significant other. And I’d love to hear your summer date ideas too!
By the way, never forget… you are onederfully created.
Love,
Becca
Another fun and inexpensive way to spend a summer evening is visiting local parks, carnivals and fairs. (Working at Knoebels this summer, so this is my current favorite) Places like Knoebels, or even fire company carnivals, or county fairs have great food at good prices, and other free entertainment. (And, ice cream ?) Oh….and, summer farmer’s markets are great also!
Yes! I love those ideas, Naomi! Thanks for sharing 🙂
