I step outside.
The hot summer breeze lifts my hair. Sweat dampens my skin. The air is humid, but it is fresh.
My view is rich with the color green. Green grass, green leaves, green bushes and trees. Green is the color of growth and newness. It’s the color of warm summer days… that, along with the bright, clear blue of the sky.
I feel that green grass beneath my bare feet. And it is good.
I know my Creator is near, for I am in the midst of His great creation. I am part of His creation. Wonderfully made, placed in this exact place for a unique purpose I will fulfill for His kingdom.
Sweet friend, if you’ve ever doubted the goodness of your Creator, if you’ve ever felt like He made a mistake when He created you… I encourage you to step outside.
In bare feet.
Feel the grass between your toes. Watch the butterfly as it tries out its brand new wings. Listen to the songs of the birds, each unique but sounded together in perfect harmony. Smell the fresh mulch in the flower beds.
Taste the fresh air on your lips.
Paul wrote these words in Romans 1:20: “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
That’s so true to me. I step outside and that’s exactly what I see: God’s eternal power and divine nature.
Seriously, never do I have a better view of God than when I’m spending time in His creation. God is an artist unlike any we’ve ever experienced. And He created so much beauty in this world that we get to enjoy.
There’s a quote about how God made the mountains and oceans and flowers and puppies and all these other great things. And that same God saw you, and thought the world needed one of you, too. It’s a sweet quote. But think about it.
You were created by the same God who made everything beautiful we’ve ever seen.
So then who are you to say He made a mistake when He created you? Who are you to say you should’ve been made differently?
No, friend. You were created by a God who knew what He was doing.
Now, I’m not saying there’s no space for you to grow and change. We are broken people. We are made beautiful through our relationship with our Creator. We are on a redemption journey.
But I am saying that you are onederfully created. That part is true, no matter what you choose to believe.
Love,
Becca
Becca,
I needed these words. Ironically, I would see and read this post on a Sunday.
Blessings to you!
Denise, I’m so glad they resonated with you… especially on a Sunday 🙂 Blessings to you as well!
Beautiful description of God’s wonderful creation – I feel just the same when I am outdoors and prefer to be outside more than in because of it. Thanks for sharing this with so many 🙂 I can just breathe in His creation even as I read your words.
Thank you for reading, Kathryn! I’m right there with you… besides this terrible heat wave, I’d much rather be outside than inside.
